Sicily is another world, another Italy, absolutely to be discovered. Palermo, its main city, sits on the Meditterenean Sea and is adorned by beautiful palaces of Arab-Norman architecture. Not far from the city is the chic beach town of Mondello , and on the hills surrounded by orange groves, sits Monreale with its imposing Cathedral- a Sicilian masterpiece, with amazing mosaics and cloister.
Sicily still preserves splendid archaeological sites that testify to its past as a rich Greek colony, such as the temple of Segesta, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Selinunte, as well as amphitheaters like that of Syracuse.
